2016 has been a 9 year. It has been a year of loss, of old issues resurfacing, and lessons being played out once again for many people.
It has been challenging as the “new you” has had to face the consequences of the actions of the “old you”, hasn’t it? There are people you don’t speak to now that you were close to in January. There are emotions you feel now about situations that are in the past, but you keep playing over in your mind.
To forgive is to set yourself free. It is to make peace with what has happened, to accept that it can’t be undone and so it makes no sense to punish yourself further by continuing an emotional attachment to it.
It is hard to forgive in private, whether it is yourself or others, but Daniella Blechner and I have gone one step further. We chose to forgive in the public view to encourage YOU to do the same.
People poured buckets of water over themselves and filmed it, so we know challenges work and can travel fast.
Let’s make the #LetItBurn Challenge reach all corners of the world, especially as a way to make peace with the year we’ve just had in preparation for 2017.
